At Bishop Reicher Catholic School, we strongly believe in collaborating closely with parents/guardians to create a supportive learning environment for our students, staff, and families. We highly value and appreciate the invaluable contributions of parent/guardian volunteers, who are instrumental in the success of our school. Through volunteer work and service, we can enhance the educational, faith-based, social, and extracurricular experiences of our students. By working together, we can accomplish great feats and fulfill our mission.
As a community, we expect families to actively participate in fundraising, volunteer work, and service. We require parents/guardians to earn PAW Points every year by taking part in volunteer activities.
General No. of PAW Points Requirement
Each family is required to earn a minimum of 20 PAW Points through volunteer work, service, or donation activities from August 1 to June 1 annually. A parent, guardian, or grandparent can earn the points.
No. of PAW Points Required of Parents Accepting Tuition Assistance Grants
In order to express gratitude for the generous tuition assistance grants, parents/guardians who have accepted a tuition assistance grant will be required to earn an extra 20 PAW points-bringing their total required points to 40 PAW Points. Twenty of these points must be earned through actual service to the school, not through donations. To make it easy for the parents to manage to earn the 40 points, 20 must be accomplished before January 1st.
EIM Compliance Requirement
Prior to participating in any on-campus volunteer opportunity, all parents and campus volunteers who directly interact with children are required to obtain E.I.M. Certification. It's important to note that E.I.M. certification must be renewed every three years. To apply or renew certification, please visit www.bishopreicher.com/ethics-and-integrity-in-ministry. Once certified, parents will receive a personalized button that must be worn at campus events to indicate they are E.I.M compliant.
Unfulfilled PAW Points Requirement
In June, families will be charged a fee of $10 for each PAW Point that is left incomplete, which will be reflected on their FACTS account. The maximum amount that can be charged per family is $200, and $400 for families accepting tuition assistance. It is important to note that this fee is considered a school fee and must be paid in full. Failure to pay this fee will result in a financial hold being placed on the Family's FACTS account and the student's academic record.
How to Log PAW Points
Families are required to enter the points earned in their FACTS Family Portal account. The school administration reviews all volunteer points throughout the year to monitor the progress of each family towards achieving the agreed 20 Parent PAW Points per school year.
The school's website will feature sign-up forms for every opportunity that allows parents or guardians to earn PAW points. To receive PAW points, parents or guardians must sign up for each volunteer opportunity individually and fulfill their obligation to volunteer, donate, or serve. Points may only be submitted ifa the parent actually fulfilled the volunteer/donation requirement (i.e., If a parent is scheduled to volunteer at Cougar Nation Night and did not fulfill their obligation, the parent cannot submit PAW Points for this event).
